Raven of the Inner Palace Episode 12 Review: Siblings
Koukyuu no Karasu or Raven of the Inner Palace is a fantasy-mystery historical anime of this fall which is at its final stage in this season. Raven of the Inner Palace episode 12 aired on December 17, 2022. Here’s the explanation and review of the following episode. Note: This review contains Spoilers.

Raven of the Inner Palace Episode 12 Review
Episode 12 starts with Raven Consort, the Emperor, and his attendants’ meeting with Magpie Consort. They went to her place to visit her as she was ill. The moment they all enter her room where She was lying, a strange smell they feel throughout the room. Beside the bed of Magpie Consort, the emperor noticed a man standing.
The king asked if He is Feng Xiao Yue. But that man just ignored everyone and left the room. Raven consort then went near Magpie Consort to give her the silk shawl which she forgot to take that day when she went to seek help from her to bring back her dead brother as we have seen from the first episode.
The Magpie Consort looks really weak now. The Raven consort asked her to return her eunuch whom she sent to Magpie consort’s palace to secretly check what strange incident is happening there, but he got caught. Magpie consort then replied that she went that day to Raven consort’s palace by covering her face with that shawl but as she didn’t agree to her request, the other man who was in the room before, helped her.
The Emperor asked the Magpie Consort if the person whom she wants to return from the dead is her brother. She agreed to that and replied since her childhood she had no family except her brother. Her brother always protected her, helped her with every trouble times, and he was the greatest person in her life.
She said her brother can’t be dead, and that’s why she went to seek the help of the Raven consort. But when she refused, she lost all hope and wanted to give up her life. That time, Xiao Yue came and proposed to help her.
Xiao suggested getting her brother’s hair and some dirt to resurrect her brother, which she got from her father. Then, Raven consort asked where her brother is and said she can smell his presence of him. Then, they all went inside the room, and Magpie consort keep saying the emperor not to do anything to her brother.
In a closed room, Raven consort found Wen Ying lying unconscious while his hands and legs are tied down. At that moment, behind the curtain, the brother of the Magpie consort tried to attack the Raven consort. His mouth is full of blood as if he is a monster.
Dan Hai attacked that monster and knocked him down. To see her brother knocked down, Magpie consort rushed to him and cut his hand with a sharp object and tell him to drink her blood. Raven consort told her it’s not possible for anyone to bring back the dead alive, and her brother is just a clay doll that is empty from the inside.
Magpie consort refused to believe that and told her Xiao to succeed to bring her brother alive at first he just drank animal blood, but now he is only thirsty for human blood. And one day a court lady saw her brother drinking blood and at that time he attacked and killed her.
She apologizes to the Emperor for his mistake and told to give her punishment. But, suddenly that monster brother attacked her neck for blood, and Raven consort then killed that clay brother, but unfortunately, Magpie consort also died of blood loss.
Later, Raven consort apologized to the emperor for not being able to help the Magpie consort when she asked her. The emperor told her it was not her fault, and don’t apologize for everything. He noticed Raven consort is distressed about something, so while coming back to his palace he stopped and rushed to her palace at that time, Raven consort went to the forest alone and called Xiao Yue to come near her.
When he came, she attacked him but nothing happened. Xiao told her It was meaningless to fight each other as they are just vessels, rather than use their Niaobu (Pet bird). He told Raven consort, he came from the palace of Seclusion which is the land far across the sea where the Gods are said to live.
He pointed out a flying owl and ask that owl as ‘Simalu’ and told it to come to him. Xiao also said he had watched the Raven consort for a long time and called himself her brother. He is Raven’s brother when the bubble of the sea was split into two, he was born with Raven’s sister. Raven was made responsible for guiding the spirits of the dead while he was made responsible as an executioner.
He waited for thousands of years to get back his sister who is now trapped inside the Raven consort and tried to kill her with a sword. The emperor came at that moment and blocked his attack. Another attendant also came and attack Xiao. He told it was meaningless to attack him as it was not his real body just a vessel and told the Raven consort he also doesn’t want to kill an innocent girl but to free her sister the vessel has to be killed.
It’s all the fault of the first Raven consort Xiang Quiang who trapped the Raven inside her body and fed the Raven flowers continuously which made it crazy. And because of it whenever Raven consort feels the power of Raven it’s actually its rage and pain. Xiao then again tried to kill the Rave consort, at that time Xing Xing came to rescue her, and she remembered at the beginning Xiao told her about fighting with their Niaobu.
She used its feathers as an arrow and attacked Xiao and this time his body was torn apart completely while dying we see him whispering something which is not known to us now, but we expect to get more explanation in the final episode.
