One Piece Animator Predicts 2023 as the Year of Luffy: Outshining Demon Slayer and Bleach

One Piece animator Henry Thurlow recently claimed on Twitter that 2023 will be the year of One Piece, surpassing even popular anime series like Demon Slayer and Bleach. However, he quickly clarified that he has no ill feelings toward those 2 rival anime series.

One Piece, which is one of the oldest & popular continuously running anime series, still capturing the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world. The anime series is currently, in its highly anticipated Wano arc.

And the Toei animation company also leaves no stone unturned to ensure the highest quality for the viewers. And as the story progresses to the end of the Wano arc, fans too can’t wait to see the ultimate battle between Luffy and Kaido, with a much anticipated Luffy’s Gear fifth transformation.

One Piece Animator Shared His Big Claim

Maybe, because of this popularity, one of the One Piece animators named Henry Thurlow recently on Twitter gave a surprising statement, claiming that One Piece will be the best anime of 2023, leaving behind even the ongoing popular hit anime series Demon Slayer and Bleach, which is currently not airing.

Demon Slayer currently airing its 3rd season, Swordsmith Village arc which is already become a hit, and Bleach’s TYBW on the other hand is currently on a short break and the second cour is slated for a July 2023 release.

The longest One Piece saga in the whole series is ending with (I promise you) the best animated episodes in the series.
Bleach and Demon Slayer etc (while great! I’m a fan of these, not a hater) are not showing their biggest climax battles.

However, the One Piece animator quickly clarified that he is not a hater of either Demon Slayer or Bleach. His point is that neither of these series will show their most significant climax battles in 2023, while One Piece is almost at the end of the Wano arc, giving it an advantage.

The One Piece Animator also added, viewers already got to see many great fights on One Piece, and much better scenes are waiting in the line. Thurlow’s other reason for claiming that statement has a good reason, as Toei Animation is not a strange name in the world of Anime. It’s already given high-quality super hit anime series like Dragon Ball, Digimon, Sailor Moon, etc.

And as the year 2023 progresses, the question will be on every fan’s mind whether One Piece will be the anime of the year or not as the one piece animator predicted.
