More Than A Married Couple But Not Lovers or Fuufu Ijou, Kobito Miman is a school romance-comedy anime of this fall that started airing episodes in October. More Than A Married Couple Episode 2 aired on October 16, 2022. Here’s the review of the second episode of the anime. Note: This review contains spoilers.

Quick Recap of the First Episode of More Than a Married Couple But Not Lovers’

In the first episode of More Than A Married Couple But Not Lovers we got to know about a new project in the school curriculum where our main characters Jiro, Akari & Shiori study, which is called ‘Couple Practical’. Those who will be paired for ‘Marriage Practical’ will live in the training room at school which is well furnished, has a kitchen and other necessary kinds of stuff.

Besides, they will be monitored through CCTV of their lifestyle and actions. There are also separate rooms where they have to sleep which is also biometric based means none can forcefully enter another’s room. Jiro was calculating how much his chance of being with her best friend and first love ‘Shiori’, which he thinks is a 1 in 75 chance. Besides, at the end of each month, those who will get a grade of ‘A’ which means to be in the top 10 can change their partners.

When Jiro came out of his senses from dreaming, he found out he got paired with Akari. He got furious as at the moment he entered the room Akari screamed at Jiro for being paired with him. He got furious as at the moment he entered the room Akari screamed at Jiro for being paired with him.

Because of their bad start, they already got a negative score of ‘-3’. Anyhow, they both became sad when they found out their respective crush ‘Shiori’ & ‘Tenjin’ got paired with each. So, Akari decided they will change and will be in their desired crush after this month by getting a grade ‘A’ for being a good couple.

One day, while in the school laboratory, the teacher called Jiro to come with Akari for a meeting, as their scores were not increasing. When Jiro went to call Akari who was also in school, she left him by saying in the Karaoke she will be with Tenjin. Anyway, Jiro was waiting outside the school gate as it was raining outside, and he had no umbrella.

He was also thinking about how Akari spends her time with Tenjin, and he can’t with Shiori. Suddenly, Shiori called him from behind. She said she was also in the meeting and sat beside Jiro. Shiori also likes Jiro secretly, which Jiro didn’t understand as he just thought Shiori thinks of him just as a friend. Anyway, later, While walking side by side under the same umbrella, Akari was teasing Jiro to not lose hope in Shiori as they have to be a good couple to get a grade ‘A’ so that they can be with their crush.

More Than a Married Couple But Not Lovers Episode 2 Review

More Than A Married Couple episode 2 starts with Jiro’s dream where he was spending time with Shiori, but he had to wake up suddenly after hearing Watanabe’s door knock in the middle of the night. She requested him to let her sleep in his room for this night which startled Jiro.

Actually, Akari was watching a horror movie and got scared. She also bought some clothes for both her and Jiro which she demanded him to wear at that moment, and she also started changing her cloth. Suddenly, it became dark as the electricity was off, and as it was a stormy night Akari suddenly jump into Jiro and hugs him tightly being scared. Jiro got very awkward and blushed at this sudden hug of her, and turn on his phone flashlight to see Akari as she was very scared.

As the electricity still didn’t come on after waiting for some time, they couldn’t able to go to their bedroom because of that too. Jiro tried to open their bedroom door, but it didn’t. Akari requested her to sit beside her on the sofa as she was still scared. She showed a lamp that she got from her friend at school.

After lighting that lamp the room looks really sweet with its candlelight, which they both started to enjoy. Akari started teasing Jiro to tell her a story and keep teasing him saying if he doesn’t know any story how could he impress Shiori later? Jiro started telling a horror story which made Akari scared again, and she tightly holds Jiro’s arm, this time Jiro also felt something romantic within and called Akari cute, He told her to not be scared and to sleep as he is with her.

The next day, when Jiro went to school he found surprisingly their rank which was at 72nd position, came to 12th position. While Shiori & Tenjin fall in the 71st position, which made both Akari and Jiro worry. That day later, Jiro became sick as he has a cold. So he went home earlier and hoping if Akari will treat him nicely.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and he found Shiori. She brought medicine and some items with her. Jiro got happy to get her company. Shiori also made some soup for him. Shiori told Jiro that she remembers once in elementary school he came to her house when she was sick and treated her. Jiro got overwhelmed and thanked her for treating him.

Jiro wanted to ask this since the school, so he asked Shiori why her rank went down so much and if she is having a problem with Tenjin. Shiori replied to him that she is not so comfortable around other boys as she is with Jiro and also thanked him for showing concern.

Shiori kept saying if Jiro was his partner it would have been great, and Jiro was too became startled as he was not expecting this. She was with Jiro the whole day and in the evening before leaving she went to his room, but Jiro pretended to sleep as he was too shy to talk with her after those previous conversations.

Suddenly, Shiori sit down and lean towards Jiro to say something as she thought he slept. Shiori whispered her love to him and told him that day before leaving the town she wanted to say this but couldn’t, but she hoped to express her love to him properly one day. Then, she leaned to Jiro to kiss him but stopped as she was too shy by saying she shouldn’t as they aren’t a mock married couple.

Jiro was all listening to this and later when Shiori left and Akari already came home, he expressed his urge to fully cooperate with each other so that they can get a grade ‘A’. But for some reason, Akari didn’t want him to talk about that as she started feeling his company good, and earlier while with her friends at the restaurant she got into thinking about Jiro which she herself got startled. Well, we can say this is the start of complicated love.

Conclusion

In this episode of More Than A Married Couple But Not Lovers, we got to see the character development of our main leads. And as the anime progress, we can expect a better storyline and more good animation too. Of course, the animation is top-notch just like the first episode. Overall we gave More Than A Married Couple Episode 2 a rating of 8.5 out of 10.
